All of Russia went back to work yesterday, after the New Year's shutdown. The country virtually shuts down for about 10 days. Tuesday was their Christmas. On the internet, I saw that one news source says the Russians spend about 25 billion dollars on celebrating New Year's. That sounds like a bit of a stretch to me, but if it is true, about half of that amount is spent of fireworks. We still hear them, from time to time!
Yesterday, was our first real day back to work, though I went in on two occasions and worked about a half day each. Lots to do getting ready for the Mission Presidents seminar in Sochi, just a month away now.
It is still cold, but we expect snow to return tomorrow and that should warm things up a bit.
Happy New Year to all. Happy Birthday Nick! We will stay in touch!
